We are a novelty. We have determined, by all the stares (yes, even from the roos!) that it's a fact. Cycling is everywhere on the coast of Oz, but tandem bikes must be as popular in Australia as they are back home - not very.
Our "rig" has helped us connect with a lot of great people. What a neat tool (I, Kami, always though it was best to have a cute puppy to meet people, but the tandem works too!). More on that in the next blog write-up.
We bought a bike trailer (B.O.B. yak - made in Canada) for our tandem when we were in Rockingham. It has been a HUGE load off our bike & balance. We are very thankful for it. Now we have room for groceries!
We find it amusing that we are often asked "Do you have food?" (as if we cycle without eating)... we don't believe it has anything to do with our physiques.
This journey is exciting. Tough work (some hills have almost made us bring up our lunch!), but beautiful country, fantastic people...and an incredible "mate" we each have in each other. Fully loving each day.
